The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru’s first-ever hybrid model, is the lowest emissions, most fuel efficient All-Wheel Drive hybrid crossover in the United States. The hybrid system in the Crosstrek Hybrid is a 4-cylinder Boxer engine and a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with an integrated electric motor. The hybrid battery is a 13.5kW, 100V nickel-metal hydride and is installed under the rear cargo area. The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid features sleek styling, exceptional ground clearance of 8.7 inches, all-season tires, raised roof rails, and road-gripping Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, while delivering an estimated 29/33 mpg city/highway.
This new hybrid features an improved cabin feel, which includes better hood insulation, better damping material in the footwells, liquid filled engine mounts, a thicker front floor pan, and a sound-abating windshield. Both models of the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid and Hybrid Touring, are equipped with the same features on the 2014 XV Crosstrek 2.0i Limited (minus the leather upholstery). These features include Keyless Access and Start, automatic climate control, a rear-vision camera, LED rear tail lights, and turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors. Additionally, the Hybrid Touring has a sunroof, leather upholstery, a 6.1-inch touch-screen, a navigation system with voice controls, smartphone integration (Aha radio), and HD radio and satellite radio. Like most hybrids, the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid uses regenerative braking. However, it also incorporates the same hydraulic brake setup as the gas model. This decision was made intentionally by Subaru engineers in order to maintain the Subaru-style handling, road feel, and brake-feel.
