On Sunday, October 5th Oneonta New York held their annual 10K Pit Run.  Named after Ricky J. "Pit" Parisian, 34 year-old New York State Trooper who was killed in 1994 while trying to stop an armed robbery. The Pit Run was a day of joy, celebration, and fun for the whole community!

The race had many different events such as a 10K race, a 5K run, a two-mile stroll, and a kid's fun run. The Oneonta community came together for their 21st consecutive year in celebration, music, games, a picnic, and a lot more fun activities! The day was planned to bring together everyone in the community and celebrate Ricky's life in a fun, healthy, and enjoyable way.

The pit run was an exciting 6.2 miles through the hills of Oneonta. It began on the Main Street Bridge between Market and River streets, passing through the State College at Oneonta and ending at Neahwa Park. Many of our own here at Subaru participated. Jonathan Ellis, our Internet manager, ran the 10K race in 41 minutes and 46 seconds and came in 30th place.  The male overall results came out to be a 17 year old from New York, New York who ran the 10K in 30 minutes and 35 seconds. The Female overall results were a 23 year old from Kingston New York who ran in 36 minutes and 22 seconds.

All proceeds from the race went to the Ricky J. Parisian scholarship foundation, dedicated to improving education for local school children. Five Star Subaru was proud to sponsor the Pit Run and we hope to see you all there and participating again next year!
