Not only is
the Legacy top in safety standards but it also now tops fuel economy among
other AWD competitors with 26 mpg city/36 mpg hwy. The 2015 Legacy's look is
comparable to previous models with a hexagonal grille and headlamps with LED
running lamps up front, and a tidy, wide rear end. The interior features more padded surfaces, chrome trim, cushier
cushions, and greater interior and trunk space than last year's model.
All Legacy models are expected to earn the agency's highest Top Safety Pick Plus designation. The Legacy adds new safety features such as front-seat cushion airbags that array from the bottom of the seat to keep passengers safe and grounded during a frontal collision. The Legacy is also equipped with safety electronic aids including hill start assist, blind spot detection, lane change assistant, rear cross traffic alert, a rearview camera, and the "EyeSight" system that provides audible and visual warnings of potentially dangerous driving situations to prompt the driver to take action.
Buyers have a choice between a 2.5-liter 4 cylinder or the 3. 6-liter 6 cylinder engine, with the 4-cylinder boxer engine producing 175 horsepower and 174lbs of torque. The 2015 Legacy will again feature a CVT which accounts for the 2 mpg fuel economy boost from last year’s model. The CVT adjusts instantly to match your acceleration, eliminating the need to shift and preserving the vehicle's momentum often lost with conventional automatic transmissions. With a manual setting it has 6 set ratios for when the driver wants to control the "gears."
The Legacy will be quieter inside due to
more sound insulation and more stable, neutral handling.
Standard features includes a 6.2-inch touchscreen based navigation system, operating much like an iPad, active torque
vectoring for better handling, a backup camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB
port.
The price is yet to be stated; however,
Subaru will remain close to its $20k starting point, increasing as additional
features are added. Although competitors prices' will be similar, the Subaru
Legacy is the only mid-size sedan in its class with AWD to get you through this
tough winter!
